Call me old-fashioned, but I believe that obituaries are sacred and deserve proper respect. As I read Page B6 of the Jan. 21 Salt Lake Tribune, I blew my cork! There, at the top of the page dedicated to the deceased, was a story headlined "Man accused of biting nose off his girlfriend's father."

The balance of the page was filled with obituaries of loved ones.

The juxtaposition of this story with the obituaries may not have offended others, but why did this article need to run on this specific page? I understand that The Trib needs to use all available space, but would it be so hard to use some compassion in story selection?

People pay the newspaper a significant amount of money to recognize their departed loved ones.

The least The Trib could do is to publish those obituaries with the respect the deceased deserve.
