Draper • Hundreds of people, many of them teens, gathered Sunday to remember two 16-year-olds who were killed in a car accident the night before.

Many in the crowd at Draper Park cried as they wrote messages to Lexie Fenton and Ethan Fraga on balloons and sent them floating in the sky. Word of the vigil had spread through social media and drew friends and even a few strangers to a pavilion at the park, 12500 S. 1300 East.

Madalyn Armstrong, 17, who knew Fenton, wrote a lengthy note on her balloon. The gist, she said, was "I love you and will always remember you."

Connor Neff, who attended the same LDS ward as Fraga, said whenever others were down, his friend made them feel better.

"He just a really nice guy," Neff said. "He was always everyone's friend."

Others remembered Fenton's kindness also and said they were thankful to have known her.

"She was just the sweetest hearted girl," her 18-year-old brother, Kaden Fenton, said.

Two attendees, 18-year-old Tanner Bigelow and 17-year-old Haden Butler, brought roses to the vigil to give to family members of the victims.

"I just thought we'd pay our respects," said Bigelow, who had never met Fenton or Fraga.

Lexie Fenton and Fraga were in an SUV with three other 16-year-olds — all Corner Canyon High School students — and heading north on Highland Drive at about 11 p.m. Saturday when the driver apparently lost control near Ellerbeck Lane, according to Draper police. The vehicle rolled and caught fire when it came to rest.

Fenton and Fraga were ejected from the SUV and died at the scene of the accident. The three injured teens were identified as Hayden Gale, Romey Kelly and Lauren Fenton, who is Lexie Fenton's twin sister.

The three survivors and were taken to Intermountain Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. One had been released by late Sunday afternoon and the other two were expected to be released before the end of the day, according to Draper police officials.

The accident remains under investigation.

Canyons School District tweeted that counselors would be at Corner Canyon High School on Monday.
