RB Devontae Booker heads Utah’s Pac-12-high 23 academic honorees

Devontae Booker is averaging 5.2 yards per carry, 7.6 yards per reception, and about an 89 per class.

It was announced Monday that the American River College transfer was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic team. After sitting out last season because he failed to qualify, Booker has amassed a 3.38 grade point average studying sociology in his time at the U.

To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic first team, second team, or honorable mention, a player required a 3.0 and an appearance in 50 percent of his team's games. Twenty-three Utes were honored in all, the most of any Pac-12 team (Stanford was second, with 18).

Those on the second team: sophomore defensive end Hunter Dimick (3.12, communication), sophomore linebacker Marcus Sanders-Williams (3.56, undeclared), sophomore long snapper Chase Dominguez (3.76, undeclared), senior safety Brian Blechen (3.16, sociology) and senior corner Eric Rowe (3.21, business administration).

Honorable mentions: sophomore safety Brian Allen, senior wideout Dres Anderson, freshman safety Evan Eggiman, sophomore tight end Siale Fakailoatonga, senior linebacker Jacoby Hale, senior defensive tackle Sese Ianu, sophomore wideout Delshawn McClellon, freshman defensive tackle Filipo Mokofisi, junior linebacker Jared Norris, sophomore kicker Andy Phillips, junior running back Bubba Poole, senior offensive tackle Marc Pouvave, senior guard Junior Salt, sophomore linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, freshman guard Salesi Uhatafe, junior punter Chris Van Orden and junior quarterback Travis Wilson.
