West Valley City » Ryan Kinasewich scored five points -- including a hat trick -- as the Utah Grizzlies dominated all night long Saturday, defeating the Las Vegas Wranglers 8-3 at the E Center.
It was an offensive showcase for Utah right from the start as the Grizzlies (8-4) jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead and Las Vegas (6-8) could never muster much of an attack. James Sixsmith added two goals and two assists.
"We were clicking on all cylinders tonight," Kinasewich said. "We were moving the puck around, and when we do that we're a dangerous team."
Utah played with great fluidity on offense and hardly used the power play to score. Six of the team's goals came in five-on-five situations, thanks to deft passing, advantageous positioning and, maybe, fatigue on the part of the Wranglers.
"I think they were tired, and when you're tired, it's hard to play good defense," Sixsmith said.
This was the fourth game in five days that the teams played each other. After Friday's contest in Las Vegas, the Grizzlies and the Wranglers boarded buses and traveled to West Valley overnight.
No matter the circumstances, the Grizzlies handed the Wranglers a steep loss thanks to nine players scoring for Utah. Las Vegas was able to add the final two goals of the game to its tally in the third period, but the scores didn't affect the final outcome.
"They were on the bus after it was 3-0," Sixsmith said.
Kinasewich became the all-time leading scorer in franchise history. He started the night four points off the lead, previously held by Chris Taylor at 278. Kinasewich's five points took his total to 279. A.J. Perry added two goals and an assist and Mitch O'Keefe saved 21 of 24 Wrangler shots.
The Grizzlies see the Wranglers again on Nov. 20 at the E Center.
The Grizzlies take control early with a 3-0 first period and never look back en route to an 8-3 win over Las Vegas.
