Posted: 1:42 PM- Real Salt Lake officials have confirmed an early October 9 opening date for the Real Salt Lake Soccer Stadium.

RSL Owner David W. Checketts announced Tuesday that RSL and Layton Turner Construction agreed to accelerate building of the Sandy stadium for an early opening; that will allow RSL to host its final two regular season games in its new digs.

Those games will see RSL host New York on Oct. 9, which will broadcast live on ESPN 2, and on Oct. 18 they will host FC Dallas, which will broadcast live on the Fox Soccer Channel.

The new stadium will also be home to the 2009 MLS All-Star Game in late July of next year.
