The Autumnal Equinox of 2014 is history, fall is here. It's OK, Utah: just ask Gregg Easterbrook.

"Autumn truly is . . . as glorious as summer is tedious; as subtle as summer is obvious; as refreshing as summer is wearying," the renowned American journalist and author wrote.

At least for the first days of the new season, with warm, sunny days and mild temperatures, northern Utahns might second Easterbrook's conviction that, "Autumn seems like paradise."

Under mostly clear skies, the Wasatch Front looked for highs in the 80s both Tuesday and Wednesday, with a 10-20 mph breeze cooling brows in the afternoon hours. Overnight lows will be in the upper-50s to low-60s.

Southern Utahns still have a wait before noticing much of a seasonal change, however. Daytime highs were forecast in the low- to mid-90s under clear, sunny skies. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-60s.

The Utah Division of Air Quality maintained forecast of "green," or healthy conditions for the entire state throughout the midweek.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website listed only sagebrush as "high," on its pollen index as of Tuesday.
