Ogden police have identified Robert Santos Soto Jr. as the man shot and killed Saturday.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument and gunshots in the early morning hours of Saturday in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue, a residential neighborhood, according to a news release.

Officers were dispatched at 1:18 a.m. and found Soto, 26, lying on the sidewalk, the release adds. Police disclosed Sunday that he had been shot multiple times.

Soto lived in the block where he died, said Lt. Danielle Croyle, who heads the major crimes unit.

Another man who lived on the block, Jeremy David Clement, 18, is considered a person of interest. Police do not suspect Clement of shooting Soto, but they want to speak with him, Croyle said.

Officers have not found the gun. Police are following several leads, but the investigation is still in its early stages, Croyle said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 801-629-8221. Croyle added that if people need to, they can remain anonymous.
