Ogden police are investigating a man's suspected murder.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument and gunshots in the early morning hours of Saturday in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue, a residential neighborhood, according to a news release.

Officers were dispatched at 1:18 a.m. and found a 26-year-old man, who had been fatally shot, on the sidewalk, the release adds.

Though investigators were waiting to release the man's identity until they can notify his family, he did live in the block, said Lt. Danielle Croyle, who heads the major crimes unit.

Officers have not found the gun. Police are following several leads, but the investigation is still in its early stages, Croyle said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 801-629-8221. Croyle added that if people need to, they can remain anonymous.
