Letter: Rep. Love silent on sexual misbehavior against women

(Chris Detrick | The Salt Lake Tribune) Mia Love speaks during her rally at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center Thursday August 16, 2012. John McCain spoke Thursday evening to a crowd of about 250 at a rally for the Love campaign, part of a swing through Western states by the 2008 Republican presidential nominee. Love is squaring off against Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson in the stateÕs new 4th District Congressional District.

Rep. Mia Love is proud of her work with Operation Underground Railroad and stopping the sexual exploitation of children.

She fails, however, in standing up against sexual harassment and assault of women.

On Sept. 26 Rep. Mark Walker called Republican women “eye candy” during a news conference. Love was standing next to him and has never made any objection against his statement that reduced strong political women to objects to look at.

Roy Moore has now been accused of sexual abuse of a minor and several other sexual offenses. Mitt Romney and Sen. Mike Lee have made strong statements opposing his selection to the special election in Alabama. However, Love remains silent.

Our leaders must stand strong against this behavior. Yet, Love continues to demonstrate she will only challenge actions of Democrats, and never her own party.
