Human value

Yesterday on Michael Medved's program he asked Mike Huckabee's campaign manager, Chip Saltzman, about Huckabee's idea to add a "human life amendment" to the Constitution. Saltzman made the point by discussing the great lengths we go to to rescue people caught in disasters, such as the recent mine collapse in Utah and the bridge failure in Minnesota. He asserted that such efforts demonstrate the worth we place on human beings and indicate the need for this amendment.

This rationale is a compelling argument for health-care reform so that all individuals have access to quality insurance. This would considerably improve human life and substantiate the value we say we place on it.
