Around the state, 150 high school seniors are semifinalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Skyline High School in the Granite School District has the most semifinalists, with 16 students eligible to compete for 7,500 National Merit scholarships worth about $33 million. Thirteen students are from West High School in the Salt Lake City School District.

Other students are from traditional public schools, charter schools, private schools and educated at home. See the embedded document above for the full list.

To be considered for the scholarships awarded next spring, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements and advance to the finalist level, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation said in a release.

About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to become finalists, and about half of the finalists will win a National Merit scholarship.
