Posted: 8:12 AM- OGDEN - Once a fan of urban gondolas, Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey is pushing streetcars for a transit system for his city.

Godfrey will unveil a proposal to the city council on Thursday.

Godfrey said he wanted to push ahead with a streetcar system despite the cost, which he believes he can get down.

The mayor appeared to be distancing himself from a system of gondolas he's pushed for years.

Godfrey told the Standard-Examiner of Ogden a streetcar system and corridor rights of way would cost about $200 million.
