HILDALE - People are trying to slowly rebuild the public library of two communities that are home to a polygamous sect.
The books in the Colorado City, Ariz., and Hildale library mysteriously disappeared years ago.
''Nobody's saying what happened to all the books,'' said Stefanie Colgrove, who is turning a section of her large Hildale home into a ''lending library.'' It will be free and open to anyone in the community.
The area is home to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which owned and controlled nearly every aspect of the community.
Nonprofit organizations that help those dealing with reconstruction have launched a book drive.
The community is now under the guidance of a court-appointed accountant.
