A construction worker died on Interstate 215 in West Valley City on Sunday when he was hit by a pickup that immediately left the scene.

Brayden F. Beddoes, 20, was working for A-Core Construction on I-215 West at 3300 South about 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a southbound truck that went behind a barricade of construction barrels and into the work area, troopers wrote in a statement.

After hitting Beddoes, the truck continued south. Beddoes died at the scene, troopers wrote.

Troopers had not found the truck or its driver by Sunday night. It's described as a blue and white pickup, possibly a Dodge. It likely has significant damage, troopers wrote.

Anyone with information about the truck or its driver should call Utah Highway Patrol at 801-887-3800.
