A Pleasant Grove neighborhood received a visit from a mountain lion on Friday morning.

The animal was spotted roaming through the backyard of a home near 260 N. 1400 East around 7:30 a.m., said Pleasant Grove Police Sgt. Carl Nielson. A concerned resident called police, worried the lion might come into contact with children who live in the area.

But by the time the police arrived, the lion had returned home to the surrounding foothills, Nielson said.

He said it is not uncommon for residents in the Utah County neighborhood to see a mountain lion in their yards.

"Every once in awhile we'll get them," Nielson said, noting the lion didn't attack anything or do any damage during its visit to the neighborhood.
