Though a snowstorm pushed them inside, a few hundred Utahns rallied at the Utah Capitol on Saturday in support of making clean air a priority in this year's Legislature, which convenes Monday.

The "Clean Air, No Excuses" rally was organized by Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment, HEAL Utah, the Mormon Environmental Stewardship Alliance, Utah Rivers Council, Utah Moms for Clean Air and the Sierra Club.

Attendees wore air masks and carried signs, one reading "Porn does not kill — pollution does" in reference to two anti-pornography bills that have already received attention nationwide.

Air advocates say lawmakers should give their attention to key environmental proposals, and follow Gov. Gary Herbert's recommendation to give $1.45 million to the Division of Air Quality to upgrade and buy new air-quality monitors.
