A Park City man has died several days after a man allegedly shot him in the head.

On Friday, Park City police were notified that Jose Fernandez, 37, had died at the hospital. He was allegedly shot during a fight with James Enoch Henfling, 27, at Fernandez's home on Monday morning.

Henfling, who is in custody at the Summit County Jail, was charged in 3rd District Court with attempted murder, but Park City police anticipate the Summit County Attorney's Office will amend the charge to homicide.

At about 4:45 a.m. Monday, Park City police officers responded to a convenience store near 1400 Park Avenue after a woman told the store clerk that her brother, Henfling, had shot someone, charges state.

Soon after, Henfling arrived at the store in a pickup truck and was arrested at gunpoint by police, charges state.

Officers then went to the Snowcrest condominium complex, where they found Fernandez with a gunshot wound in the head.

Henfling later admitted to police that he shot the victim with a .40-caliber handgun, charges state.

Henfling's first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
