A 27-year-old Midvale man was charged Wednesday with shooting and critically wounding a man at a Park City condominium complex.

James Enoch Henfling was charged in 3rd District Court with first-degree felony attempted murder in connection with the Monday shooting of 37-year-old Jose Fernandez.

Henfling is due in court for an initial appearance on Feb. 29.

Fernandez, meanwhile, was on life-support and in critical condition at a Salt Lake Valley hospital, charges state.

At about 4:48 a.m. Monday, Park City police officers responded to a 7-Eleven near 1400 Park Avenue after a woman told the store clerk that her brother, Henfling, had shot someone, charges state.

Soon after, Henfling arrived at the store in a pickup truck and was arrested at gunpoint by police, charges state.

Officers then went to the Snowcrest condominium complex, where they found Fernandez with a gunshot wound to the head.

Henfling later admitted to police that he shot the victim with a .40-caliber Glock handgun, charges state.

Police have said that a physical altercation between Henfling and the victim led to the shooting.

Henfling was booked into the Summit County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
