Northern Utahns can expect a return of blustery, wet weather late Saturday after a brief hot and dry break, but southern Utah will broil in typical late-August fashion heading into the weekend.

Friday brought a sunny morning to the Wasatch Front, though cloud cover was expected to build later in the day as temperatures climbed into the mid-90s. On Saturday, winds of 15-25 mph were forecast as daytime highs again hit the mid-90s ahead of evening thunderstorms and showers.

No such relief was in sight for Utah's Dixie. The state's southern reaches, forecast to flirt with triple-digit temperatures under mostly clear skies on Friday, looked for more of the same on Saturday — though winds of 10-20 mph were predicted to arrive in the afternoon.

The Utah Division of Air Quality rated all areas of the state as "green," or healthy through the weekend. Only Weber County, which was "yellow," was compromised for air quality.

However, the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website rated chenopods "very high," mold and ragweed as "high," and sagebrush as "low" on its pollen index as of Friday.
