Valley rain and mountain snow are expected Saturday in much of northern and western Utah, with precipitation continuing into Sunday mainly over the mountains.

The National Weather Service is predicting the mountains will receive several inches of new snow on Saturday. Accumulating snow or slush could affect travel at the higher passes.

The rain and snow will wind down Sunday evening, according to the weather service.

Highs on Saturday are expected to range from the 50s to low 60s in the valleys and the 40s in higher elevations. On Sunday, highs will be in the 60s and 50s, the weather service says.

The beginning of the week will bring warmer weather, with temperatures in the 70s.

St. George has a chance of rain Saturday morning, and the temperature is predicted to reach the upper 60s on Saturday and drop to around 50 overnight.

Sunday is predicted to be warmer, with the high around 80 and the low in the low 50s.

The Utah Division of Air Quality has rated the air as healthy throughout the weekend.
