Man stabbed during mugging on Thanksgiving

Unified police are investigating a stabbing and mugging that took place Thursday night in Taylorsville.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, said he was walking down the street in the area of 4500 South and 2200 West when a dark Jeep pulled up next to him, Lt. Brian Lohrke said. Multiple people in the car demanded his wallet, and after handing it over the victim was stabbed in the ribs.

The victim could not give any description of the assailants, including how many there were. The Jeep drove off and the victim was able to walk to a gas station to call a friend. The friend called police and took the victim to a hospital for medical attention.

Lohrke didn’t know the victim’s current condition as of Friday morning, but said the injuries were not severe.

Lohrke said Unified police has not identified any suspects. There have been no reports of similar incidents, he said.
