American Fork police have located a 17-year-old girl with a diminished mental capacity who had been missing since Wednesday.
She was seen leaving American Fork High School on foot Wednesday afternoon. Due to an injury, the teen’s brain functions at the same level as an 8-year-old, and she was considered to be in danger.
Sgt. Josh Christensen sent a media release just before 8 p.m. Thursday, saying the teen had been located after a member of the public saw reports of the missing teen in the media and called in a tip.
Christensen said the person had seen the teen Wednesday night, and that that information led to finding the girl. He said she was safe and healthy, and there were no suspicious circumstances regarding the missing teen.
