Gusty winds arrive Sunday ahead of a cold Pacific storm that will bring snow to much of Utah

The snow is expected to arrive late Sunday night and into Monday, bringing less than an inch of accumulation to the Wasatch Front valleys. The central and southern Wasatch Front benches could get 1-3 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The central, southwest and eastern valleys will see 1-4 inches accumulate, and the Wasatch Mountains will get 4-8. The Uinta Mountains, Wasatch Plateau, central and southern mountains will see the most, with 6-12 inches, with "locally greater amounts" at the highest elevations, according to the weather service.

The snowfall will impact travel, particularly in west-central and southwest Utah, mountain routes, and along much of the Interstate 15 corridor on Monday morning.

"Gusty winds are also expected through the western valleys on Sunday ahead of this system," the weather service advised. "Stronger northwest winds are expected across much of [Utah] on Monday and Monday night as the storm begins to move out of the area."

Temperatures in Salt Lake City will drop steeply from a mild Sunday high of 62 degrees to a high of 39 degrees on Monday.

Highs in St. George, meanwhile, will drop from 61 on Sunday to 47 on Monday, according to the weather service.

Air quality statewide is healthy, according to the Utah Division of Air Quality.
