It's not the most buzzed-about award, but maybe it should be.

Utah senior wideout Kenneth Scott was named Wednesday to the 80-man preseason watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy, given to a player with the most impressive combination of community service and athletic and academic performance.

Community service? Scott has volunteered at a juvenile detention center and a suicide prevention group, and he visits local middle and elementary schools to speak to children. Check.

Academic performance? Scott has degrees in both economics and human development and family studies.

And on the field? Scott caught 48 passes for 506 yards and four touchdowns last season. Utah seems likely to take his advice and throw him more deep and intermediate passes this season, so it's a good bet that he'll improve on those numbers.

Here's the full watch list rollout schedule (click for details on Utes):

July 13 • Jim Thorpe Award

July 15 • Biletnikoff Award and Wuerffel Trophy

July 16 • Davey O'Brien Award and Doak Walker Award

July 17 • Walter Camp Award
