This week's Utah Crowd-Funding Project aims to keep you cool at the pool.

Tubular Tube is a Salt Lake City company whose namesake product, the brainchild of the firm's "idea man" Sebastian Schleicher, takes pool floating to the next level.

The Tubular Tube boasts a cooler for your drinks, a dry bag to store your phone and other stuff, a removable waterproof Bluetooth speaker, heavy-duty handles and two cupholders. It also has a built-in backrest, a mesh bottom to let water flow, a large valve for easy inflation, and is made of heavy-duty PVC — so it can be used on snow, too.

The company is looking to start production, and has started a crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter with a goal of $25,000. So far, the campaign has raised $6,882 in pledges. The deadline is Oct. 3.

Benefits for backers range from a T-shirt with the Tubular logo (for $30) to a two-pack of the Tubular Tube (for $185).

If you have a crowd-funding project you'd like mentioned on The Cricket blog, email it to: spmeans@sltrib.com. Be sure to put "crowd funding" in the subject line.
