Where's the threat?

Are there still people in 2008 who think homosexuality is nothing more than a giant sodomy party? Homosexuality is about feelings and needs that go far beyond sex. A homosexual's desire for love and intimacy is as primal, spiritual and vital as it is for heterosexuals. To say that homosexuality is about nothing more than anal sex is like saying that heterosexuality is about nothing more than making babies.

I'm baffled at the supposed threat that gay marriage is to "the family." Exactly whose family is threatened? Are thousands of heterosexuals going to get divorced because gay marriage is legal? Are they going to stop getting married because gays can? Are married homosexuals going to barge in and overturn the dinner tables of heterosexually parented families? The only real threat to any family is in families like mine where homosexuals were not allowed to love and marry one another - where a gay/straight marriage is believed to be a viable option and children are brought into families that have a slim chance of remaining intact.

It's the disallowance of gay marriage and the continuation of trying to fix something that ain't broke that has become the threat to families.
