Letter: What happened to the John Curtis of old?

There used to be a different John Curtis who was considered somewhat of a moderate independent by today’s GOP standards and was concerned about climate change among other things. I wonder where that John Curtis went since he became our junior senator and has voted in lockstep with the rest of the GOP for:

  • Every unqualified Trump appointee, including but not limited to Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr, Kash Patel and Emil Bove.
  • A massive increase in the federal deficit (the CBO estimated as much as 4 trillion dollars) that will ultimately lead to increased borrowing costs for consumers and service to the national debt.
  • Drastic cuts to Medicaid and the resulting severe impacts to rural hospitals and the millions of people who will lose their coverage in return for maintaining tax cuts for the wealthiest among us.
  • Elimination of tax credits and programs to encourage clean energy development and support the millions of associated jobs.
  • Drastic cuts to NPR/PBS and the resulting effects on rural areas who depend on them.
  • Drastic cuts to federal agencies who provide essential services related to public health and safety as well as the protection of our national parks, forests and rangelands.
  • I could go on but I just wonder where the former John Curtis went?
