No. 11 Utah (1-0) will take on Baylor (1-0) in the second week of the regular season on at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Salt Lake City.
The contest will not count in the Big 12 standings, due to it being second matchup in a home-and-home series that was scheduled before the Utes entered the conference.
Last season Utah and head coach Kyle Whittingham escaped with a narrow 20-13 victory over the Bears in crunch time. Running back Jaylon Glover sealed that game after he shoved his way into the end zone for an 11-yard rushing touchdown with 17 seconds left on the clock.
This time the Bears will have to take on seventh-year quarterback Cam Rising, who missed all of last season recovering from a knee injury. In his first game back in nearly two years, Rising finished 10-of-15 for 254 passing yards and a career-high five passing touchdowns.
The Utes are coming off a thumping 49-0 shutout victory over Southern Utah.
This contest is the second of six home games for the Utes this season. Next they hit the road against Utah State and No. 16 Oklahoma State, their Big 12 opener.
