Utah State basketball game against Weber State canceled due to COVID-19 cases within Aggies

Utah State basketball has had its first COVID-19 cancellation of the season.

The game between the Aggies and Weber State Wildcats scheduled for Saturday has been canceled, the universities announced Thursday. The cancellation is due to “positive COVID-19 test results at Utah State.”

Utah State said in a news release that the team is pausing “full team activities,” and that Tuesday’s game against Dixie State may also be impacted.

USU and Weber State are exploring rescheduling the game at a later date.

Aggies coach Craig Smith recently tested positive for the coronavirus and missed two games.

The Aggies are 2-3 this season and were coming off a win against the College of Idaho. Weber State is 2-0, and the game against USU was going to its last outside the Big Sky Conference.

The Wildcats have already had a game canceled this season. They did not play a scheduled game against Dixie State in November because of positive coronavirus cases within Weber State.
