Real Salt Lake has made its first acquisition of the offseason.

RSL has agreed to terms with former U.S. Men’s National team player Rubio Rubín, The Salt Lake Tribune confirmed. The deal was first reported by SBI Soccer.

Rubín will occupy a senior roster spot, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Tribune. RSL will not use any targeted allocation money to pay his salary, the person said.

Rubín, 24, most recently played in the United Soccer League Championship with the San Diego Loyal. The Union signed him in September from Dorados del Sinaloa, from where he was on loan with Club Tijuana of Liga MX.

Rubín played four games for San Diego and scored five goals. The midfielder has made seven appearances with the USMNT.
