The Utah Royals and Houston Dash ended in a scoreless draw on Friday night in the expansion team’s second consecutive road tie.
Abby Smith had her first shutout of the season without having to make a save as Houston had seven shots but none on goal.
The Royals forced Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell into five saves, as they outshot the Dash 9-7 overall.
Royals midfielder Gunnhildur Jonsdottir had the team’s best chance on goal off a free kick that Campbell was able to anticipate the direction of and make the stop. Utah had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks and 66 percent of the possession overall.
Utah is off next weekend before its first home game of the season against Chicago at Rio Tinto Stadium. The game will be broadcast on Lifetime.
