Jazz mailbag: Is Joe Ingles living in Paul George’s head? Did Russell Westbrook deserve a suspension?

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles (2) reacts as the Jazz take a commanding lead in game 4, NBA playoff action between Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder, in Salt Lake City, Monday, April 23, 2018.

Tony Jones, one of The Tribune’s Utah Jazz beat reporters, will answer questions submitted on Twitter each week in his Jazz mailbag. Here are this week’s questions and answers.

I’m going to say no only because Paul George has been so good in this series. He’s had two 30-point games and has been the most difficult OKC player by far for the Jazz to guard. Joe Ingles has struggled for two games and played really well for two games. But it is funny how Ingles and George are going back and forth with the trash talk. And I do agree Ingles found a way to get under PG’s skin during Game 4.

I was in the building in 2010 during Game 6 of the series against Denver, led by Carmelo Anthony, and the building was pretty loud then. But these two games definitely have been the loudest. Jazz fans truly made that a special place this weekend. They should be proud. That’s one of the best playoff atmospheres I’ve ever been a part of.

Russell Westbrook was at the table, ready to check into the game. So by the exact letter of the law, the league actually got this one right. I also thought the league got the fine right as well because Westbrook instigated the scuffle with Rudy Gobert. The NBA went 2 for 2 on that, in my opinion.

Assuming he’s back next season — and I think he will be — Dante Exum will be Ricky Rubio’s backup. What happens with Rubio beyond next season isn’t clear yet. But the Jazz really like and believe in Exum. As for small forward, Exum’s a point guard and that’s probably where his NBA future lies.
