Each week, the TribPreps staff will choose standout performers and key numbers from the previous week’s action in Utah and showcase them. Here are this week’s picks.

Maya Thayne

The Jordan junior scored four goals and added an assist in the Beetdiggers’ 10-4 win over Juan Diego in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday. It was the second time this season that she’s scored four goals in a game.

The Mountain View sophomore recorded a hat trick in a 7-2 win over Uintah in boys’ soccer action Tuesday. He has scored 11 goals for the 9-0-1 Bruins.

Easton Rex

The Juan Diego junior smashed the ball in the Soaring Eagle’s baseball games this week. He started the week going 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs in Monday’s 3-1 win over Bonneville. He then went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored in Tuesday’s 13-0 win over Ogden before finishing 3 for 5 with 4 RBIs and a run scored in Wednesday’s 10-6 win over Ogden.

The hundredths of a second that separated first and second place in the 300-meter hurdles at Wednesday’s Region 13 track and field meet at South Summit. Morgan’s Ryan Devries won the race in 42.63 seconds, while South Summit’s Logan Davis was second in 42.66.

The number of runs batted in for Bountiful sophomore Dashani Purcell in a pair of Braves softball wins. She drove in five in Tuesday’s 19-6 win over Copper Hills then added another five in Thursday’s 7-5 victory over Roy. She went a combined 4 for 8 at the plate in the two games.

The number of runs accounted for by Kearns freshman Chloe Borges in two softball victories. She scored three runs and drove in five in Monday’s 12-1 win over Brighton before scoring three and knocking in one in a 6-2 decision over Granger on Tuesday. She went a combined 3 for 4, including a home run, and stole three bases in the two wins.
