Utah Grizzlies unveil 2016-17 schedule

The Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday released their 2016-17 schedule.

The Grizzlies will open the season Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15 with a pair of home games against the arch-rival Idaho Steelheads.

Twenty six of the team's 36 regular season home games will take place on Friday or Saturday.

The Grizzlies will once again host 1:30 p.m. holiday matinees on Monday, January 16 against Idaho for Martin Luther King Day and on Monday, February 20 for President's Day against Idaho as well. Utah will host Allen on Wednesday, November 23 for a 7 p.m. start the day before Thanksgiving.

Forty Four of Utah's 72 games will be played within the West Division against: Idaho, Colorado, Rapid City and Alaska; including a stretch of 15-straight games within the division February 1-March 4. Utah will play nine of their 16 games against Central Division teams at Maverik Center.

Half of Utah's 72-game schedule will be played as three-game series, including eight three-game series over the final ten weeks of the season; with seven of those to be played against West Division opponents going down the stretch.

Utah will have three home stands of six games (November 11-23, December 9-21, January 16-28) and three road stretches of five or more games (November 25-December 4: 6 games; February 1-11: 6 games; March 24-April 1: 5 games.)
