Utah Grizzlies fall in triple OT to Colorado Eagles, playoff series tied 1-1

The Colorado Eagles outlasted the Utah Grizzlies Sunday night in a three overtime marathon, 5-4.

The playoff series between the teams is now tied at 1-1, the third game set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Maverik Center.

The Grizzlies took an early 1-0 lead, but Colorado scored three goals in 90 seconds to take a 3-1 lead in the first period. Connor Hardowa scored early in the second period to make it 3-2, before a goal 40 seconds into the third tied it up for Utah.

The teams spend 54 minutes tied at 4-4 in overtime — Utah shooting 18 times — before Colorado buried the game-winner.

The game was the second longest contest in Grizzlies history at nearly 103 minutes, five minutes from the team record for longest game played ever.
