The BYU Cougars will be without another one of its star players next year.
A day after offensive tackle Brady Christensen announced he’d forego his senior season to declare for the NFL draft, junior wide receiver Dax Milne followed suit.
“My heart is full,” Milne said in a statement on social media. “The last 3 years have been a dream come true. The experience I have had playing foorball for BYU has given me more than I can put into words. It has been such a special place to play the game I love.”
After quiet freshman and sophomore seasons, Milne broke out into the scene this year. Milne had six 100-yard games this year on his way to finishing with a total of 1,188 receiving yards, along with eight touchdown receptions, on 70 receptions.
The South Jordan native had built a close relationship with BYU quarterback Zach Wilson long before either came to Provo, and that connection was highlighted this year.
The Cougars should stay well-stocked at the receiver position should juniors Gunner Romney and Neil Pau’u return for their senior season next year. Should they decide to leave as well, BYU will still have plenty of talent, albeit on the young side.
“I would not be where I am today without my coaches at BYU,” Milne said. “... It was a season I’ll never forget. And to all the fans of Cougar Nation, thank you for all your love and support. Best fans in the world.”
