PCL baseball: Reno Aces deal 9-4 loss to Salt Lake Bees

The host Reno Aces pounded out 16 hits en route to a 9-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday night.

Reno jumped on Salt Lake starter Luis Diaz for three runs in the second inning and two more in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. The Bees came back in the fifth with three runs. With runners at first and second, Eric Young Jr. hit a slow roller up the first base side and pitcher Zach Godley threw the ball down the right field line to score both base runners. Young would score on a single by Carlos Perez to pull to within one run.

In the seventh, Nolan Fontana walked, Ramon Flores singled and both runners advanced on a ground out. Young followed with a single to right to bring home Fontana, but Flores was thrown out at the plate as the potential tying run. Reno would break the game open with three runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth. Diaz (1-1) takes the loss, as he went four and one-third innings and allowed five runs on eleven hits. Salt Lake managed only five hits with Flores leading the way with two hits. Sherman Johnson went 0 for 4 to snap his ten game hitting streak.
