Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan’s Riverton estate goes on the market for $2.9 million

Four months after the death of legendary Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, his Riverton estate is going on the market.

Berkshire Hathaway, the real estate company that is managing the sale, described the home in a news release as a “one of a kind,” “custom-built estate” that Sloan cared for with the same meticulous nature “he portrayed with his care of our beloved Jazz basketball team.”

The 9,860-square-foot home is on the Riverbend Golf Course and has an 18-car garage, a custom pool with waterfalls and an east-facing view of the Wasatch Front.

The estate will be listed Thursday for $2.9 million, and Berkshire Hathaway said it would be available “for private showings to pre-qualified buyers with proof of funds starting immediately."

Sloan moved into the home in 2007, and the real estate company said its sale represented the closure of a “final chapter” for the Utah icon.

Sloan in 2016 revealed to The Salt Lake Tribune that he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and a form of dementia. He died in May at the age of 78.

The former NBA player was a two-time All-Star and guided the Jazz to consecutive NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998, and 15 consecutive playoff appearances between 1989 and 2003 as a coach.

Only three NBA coaches have amassed more regular-season wins than his 1,221 — Don Nelson (1,335), Lenny Wilkens (1,332) and Gregg Popovich (1,272). Sloan was also just one of two coaches ever to win at least 1,000 games with the same team.
