State colleges: No. 9 BYU volleyball team sweeps Santa Clara for 10th straight win

The No. 9 BYU women’s volleyball team swept Santa Clara on Saturday in Provo for its 10th straight win.

McKenna Miller had seven kills and a .700 hitting percentage, Kennedy Eschenberg recorded a team-high five blocks, and Kate Grimmer added four aces as the Cougars won 25-16, 25-12, 25-10.

“We came out today with great energy and served really tough,” BYU coach Heather Olmstead said. “I liked our blocking and see us making improvements.”

Women’s soccer

With goals from six players, the No. 6 BYU women’s soccer tallied its ninth shutout of the season, beating West Coast Conference opponent Pacific, 6-0 at South Field in Provo.

The Cougars scored three goals in the first half and three in the second half. BYU (12-0-1, 2-0-1 WCC) outshot Pacific (3-10-0, 0-3-0 WCC) 28-3.

Mikayla Colohan scored in the game’s third minute, and BYU also got goals from Cameron Tucker, Lizzy Braby, Sarajayne Affleck, Ashton Brockbank and Makaylie Moore.
