About USU • The Logan Aggies dropped a 38-31 heartbreaker at No. 11 Michigan State to open the season, but raised some eyebrows in the process. ... Aggie sophomore quarterback Jordan Love threw for a career-high 319 yards against the Spartans, while junior tight end Dax Raymond hauled in a career-best seven receptions for 76 yards. USU was just 3-3 at home last season, but is 21-9 overall under Matt Wells at Maverik Stadium. ... The Aggies will wrap up the current series with NMSU in Las Cruces in 2021.

But they have dropped their first two games in lopsided fashion, falling at home to Wyoming in their opener (29-7), then losing at Minnesota last weekend on the road (48-10). ... Quarterback  Matt Romero has thrown for 373 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while completing 53 percent of his passes. ... NMSU is playing as an independent this season after leaving the Sun Belt Conference. One schedule notable: a rare home-and-home series with Liberty University this season.
