The Salt Lake Bees scored early and often as they rolled to a 9-2 win over the host Sacramento River Cats on Friday night.

Salt Lake jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on back-to-back RBI singles by Chris Carter and Jose Fernandez.

Carter belted a solo homer in the third, his 11th of the season, to make it 3-0, and the Bees added three more in the fourth inning on a run-scoring single by Jose Briceno and a two-run double by David Fletcher.

Sacramento got two runs in the fifth, but the Bees put the game away on a three-run homer by Fernandez that hit the right field foul pole.

Jordan Jankowski (2-0) worked two scoreless innings for the win, and Jake Jewell gave up two hits but no runs to close out the game in the ninth.

Starting pitcher John Lamb went 4 1/3 innings and allowed one hit with a season-high seven strikeouts and no walks.

Fernandez led the Bees with two hits and four runs batted in, while Fletcher added a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Carter chipped in with two hits and two RBIs, and Rymer Liriano had a pair of singles, as the Bees earned a split in the four-game series.
