Jabari Blash bashes two HRs to help Salt Lake Bees overpower Albuquerque Isotopes, 8-6

Jabari Blash launched two home runs off the batter’s eye in center field at Smith’s Ballpark to lift the Salt Lake Bees to an 8-6 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday night.

Blash’s first homer came in the third inning with Jose Miguel Fernandez aboard to cut the Bees’ deficit to 6-5. Then in the fifth inning Blash hit a tape measure solo shot that nearly cleared the 40-foot tall batter’s eye to put the Bees up 8-6. The right fielder is the third Bee of the season to have a multi-home run game, joining Chris Carter and Michael Hermosillo, who have also accomplished feat on during the Bees homestand.

Dylan Unsworth (1-0) picked up the win for the Bees in his Salt Lake debut. Unsworth allowed six runs to Albuquerque, all coming in the third inning, over five frames of work.

Ryan Schimpf and Sherman Johnson also homered for the Bees, who lead all of Minor League Baseball with 30 homers as a team after 17 games.
