There are many ways to build a perfect day at Powder Mountain. You can start with a run right out of the Hidden Lake parking lot. You can find perfect powder in Woody’s World or explore the seemingly endless terrain off the new Lightning Ridge lift. You can end the day with ramen at The Powder Keg at Timberline.

Powder Mountain has long been loved for its terrain, its namesake powder, and its uncrowded slopes. This season, Powder made a number of changes to make that ‘perfect day’ even better. With a season pass for 2025-2026 (on sale now) you can get guaranteed access to the best Powder has to offer all season long.

Powder Mountain remains committed to keeping its over 5,000 skiable acres uncrowded by limiting lift tickets.

No other resort in Utah is doing more to prioritize their season pass holders. This season, Powder launched Passholder Weekends. For four weekends in February, the mountain was open exclusively to passholders on Saturday and Sunday. Each weekend had different special events including a Timberline pancake breakfast, the Frost Fest featuring snow sculptures and s’mores stations across the resort, and a chance to test new gear in a demo day.

Said one passholder who experienced the weekend: “I was reminded of how Powder Mountain was in the ‘80s—extremely uncrowded and friendly.”

The weekends will be back next season. From February 7 - March 1, 2026 the mountain will be reserved exclusively for passholders and their guests (buddy tickets will be available for use during the weekends). Passholders will also have early morning access to fresh powder before anyone else on January 24, February 14, and March 14, 2026.

New features

In the last year, Powder has made a number of improvements, including opening the new Lightning Ridge lift. The first new lift in over a decade, Lightning Ridge provides access to an area previously only accessible by snowcat. It has a massive expanse of chutes as well as a couple longer, more mellow runs.

Powder also brought back its terrain park for the first time since 2020. The park has over 45 features and Powder staff work to change up the offering weekly to keep it fresh. Last year you could spot Tom Wallisch, Brita Sigourney, Nicky Keefer, Eric Koston, and Tim McChesney there.

Staying true to why locals love Powder

While changes have happened, Powder has stayed true to the essence of what it offered when it opened in 1971 with only the Sundown lift. Then and now it was focused on helping skiers access some of the least touched but most challenging terrain in the area. You can still take the shuttles after enjoying an epic run in Woody’s World or Powder Country, so named for local legend Richard “Woody” Wood who first pioneered the shuttle route in 1981. You can still grab a bite from Sundown, just now that bite happens to be Lucky Slice. And, there’s always great music and beer waiting for you at the end of the day at Powder Keg.
