Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a man this weekend in Roy.

Mario Saucedo, 23, was shot during a party early Sunday in a cul de sac near 2950 West and 4650 South, police have said. Saucedo was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Officers announced on Monday they had arrested Ruben Alvarado Nava III, 40. Nava and Saucedo got into some sort of dispute at the party, said Roy police spokesman Bryce Weir. The two men were standing in the cul de sac about 12:25 a.m. when Saucedo was shot, Weir said. At some point, Nava fled the party, Weir said. Weir would not discuss the topic of the dispute or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. He also would not say where or how Nava was apprehended.

Saucedo and Nava did not appear to be acquainted before the party, Weir said. Both men are believed to be from the Ogden area.

Weber County prosecutors are reviewing the case for charges, Weir said.
