A dog bit a 5-year-old South Ogden girl on the neck and dragged her over a fence in Clearfield Sunday, leaving her with critical injuries.

Police said the girl's uncle heard screaming about 8:20 a.m. and ran outside, where he saw a neighbor's 3-year-old husky holding the girl by the neck with its mouth. The dog dragged the girl over a 3-foot-tall fence, then began shaking her and pulling her around a yard located at 2268 S. 300 West.

The uncle immediately jumped over the fence and the dog released her, police said.

The girl was taken first to Davis Hospital and then flown to Primary Children's Medical Center by medical helicopter. She remained in critical condition Sunday afternoon, though her injuries were likely not life-threatening.

The dog's owners plan to euthanize it, a Clearfield police dispatcher said.
