The Tabernacle Choir’s 2021 Heritage Tour has been delayed until 2022 because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s the second postponement of the tour, which was originally scheduled to take The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square to Europe in 2020. It was then slated to run from mid-June into early July of this year.
According to the choir, it will perform next year at the same venues in Scandinavia and the United Kingdom — Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Oslo, Norway; Cardiff, Wales; and Edinburgh, Scotland.
Information about new dates at those sites will be released in “the next few weeks,” according to a news release, and ticket holders are asked not to contact the venues until those details are available.
The famed choir — the showcase troupe of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — got a new name nearly 2½ years ago and a new logo last year. During the pandemic, however, its live performances have ceased. The group’s weekly “Music and the Spoken Word” program, the longest continuously running network broadcast in radio history, has featured reruns of past shows, and its performances at twice-yearly General Conferences of the Utah-based faith also have been from previous recordings.
