Wasatch Academy star center commits to Michigan State

(Photo courtesy of Wasatch Academy basketball) Wasatch Academy forward Mady Sissoko, from Mali, West Africa, will be one of the country's top recruits this summer. He has an offer from BYU, and coach Mark Pope recently visited Sissoko's parents in West Africa.

Wasatch Academy center Mady Sissoko will play college basketball at Michigan State University, he announced Tuesday evening via an Instagram Live video.

“Today is very much my best day ever,” Sissoko said moments before his announcement.

Sissoko had narrowed his choices to BYU, Kansas, Michigan State and Memphis. He received offers from 20 schools, including Utah and Utah State, according to 247sports.com.

The rising senior fractured his right hand on a recruiting trip to BYU late last month.

Sissoko is a four-star recruit and considered the top recruit in the state. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game in the 2018-19 season as a junior.
