Letter: Looking for an alternative

(Erin Schaff | The New York Times) President Donald Trump boards Air Force One at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019.

Donald Trump has now decided to mandate the rollback of pollution initiatives that the state of California has spent years working on.

As President Trump tweeted, “Many more cars will be produced under the new and uniform standard, meaning significantly more JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! Automakers should seize this opportunity because without this alternative to California, you will be out of business.”

The rationale behind Trump’s decision is that it will lower the price of vehicles and, at the same time, create new jobs.

He is absolutely right. The cost of a new vehicle will come down, which would likely result in an improvement in the bottom line for automakers and thus the creation of new jobs.

So, if you are not concerned about creating a future for your children and grandchildren, where they will have clean air to breathe and look forward to creating the next generations of the same, then go ahead and vote for Trump in the 2020 election.

I, for one, will be looking for an alternative, and I don’t care what party this alternative comes from.
