I am writing in regard to a very tragic story that has been widely reported within Salt Lake City as well as nationwide. This being the heartbreaking Lauren McCluskey case. I will not go into specific details, as they have already been well documented, but instead will focus on an awareness about dating/relationship violence.
The Lauren McCluskey Race for Campus Safety will be an inaugural event to honor the legacy of McCluskey, an outstanding student-athlete from Pullman, Wash., who attended the University of Utah and competed on the track and field team. She was tragically murdered on campus on Oct. 22, 2018, by a man she briefly dated.
The 5 kilometer race will be held at the Whitman County Humane Society (1340 Old Moscow Road) in Pullman, Wash., on Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. There will also be a 1K fun run. All proceeds will go directly to the Lauren McCluskey Foundation, which supports campus safety, amateur athletics and animal welfare.

We hope that you will be able to join us to honor and remember the incredible life of Lauren McCluskey.
