Call me, maybe? Sen. Mitt Romney’s office is at the mercy of Senate techs still waiting for phone line and emails.

Washington • Sen. Mitt Romney has been in office for about a week and is still waiting for his phones to work and for his staff emails to be set up.

Utahns trying to contact their new Republican senator have faced numbers that don’t connect or allow messages to be left — but it’s not something Romney’s office can control.

“We would love more than anything to get this fixed,” Romney spokeswoman Liz Johnson said Thursday. “We're doing everything we can.”

Romney’s office inherited former Sen. Orrin Hatch’s main office numbers — for those wondering, 202-224-5251 is Romney’s Washington office and 801-524-4380 is his Salt Lake City office number — but are at the mercy of Senate technicians and contractors to get the lines working. Some emails have been set up for Romney’s staff but many are still waiting and there’s no general contact website other than a listing of office numbers.

Johnson suggested constituents keep trying the numbers if they'd like to contact the senator.

Newly minted Rep. Ben McAdams, D-Utah, has also faced some hurdles getting his office technology set up mainly due to the large freshman class of House members.

McAdams is asking constituents who want to contact him to call his Washington office at 202-225-3011 or go through his website, McAdams.House.Gov, according to spokeswoman Alyson Heyrend. The state’s newest congressman is also responding to tweets at his official handle, @RepBenMcAdams and his Utah office is staffed during business days. His office is at 9067 South 1300 West in West Jordan.

Constituents may also contact the office via email at UT04.McAdams@mail.house.gov.

Heyrend says official email addresses and phone numbers should work by next week.
